Okay, been thinking this through the past few days so thought i'd jot it down and see what u guys thought...
Since TBC ive disliked wow more and more every time i play due to bordom, non interesting social side etc. etc. and i think the main reason for this is the fact that all (or at least a lot of) the "gang" have disapeared..
After running strat baron tonight with Paver (some of you may remember) all the memorys flooded back of our ZG and attempted AQ20 days.... the darkshore raids... all the general shizz that made this game what it is and the whole reason we all bought our first copy and moved from Soma..
Now, the reason most people have left is because, to be quite honest, the game is getting boring. instead of making new stuff, blizz raised the cap, gave us shitty scenary (same models as pre tbc just different colours) so on and so forth.
So what im suggesting is.. we have a refresh. Theres quite a few new games coming out this year, age of Conan is coming out next week for example, and i think it will be a good chance for all the oldies to get back into the swing of things with a whole new adventure and fun to be had.
Reform Athanatus once more from the ashes and lets see what happens... By the looks of it gens and jo are playing again for now, ohf be back soon..keif and belly im sure will jump on as there only absent coz of the bordom along with micky and knife..moreover vik is back and ooo this is getting juicer by the minute. bar and jox still roam about
...the potential is there guys.. we all know it,
just need a brave sole to stand up and reunite us all..light the beacons:)
i play for the people, not for the game

okay - with the release of age of conan, this has entered my mind too. Obviously i would have to play it before i made a definitive move, but the reviews and the gameplay trailers i've seen do look good and spark interest.
As most of you know, i've always played several MMORPG's and tried dozens out. I'm currently playing Lord of the Rings Online, which i am really enjoying i must say. (If your a fan of the films i recommend it)
My concern with moving is the amount of time i have invested in warcraft. The argument can be made that i spent more on soma, which yes i did.....drastically more. But Soma was so dated by the time we left it, playing wow on trial showed soma for its true colours - old, out of date with a ridiculous levelling system.
Warcraft has the potential to carry on for a long time yet, WotLK approaching with some tasty additions (all instances being availible in 10 man being the best one) and quite simply, i dont know if i fancy starting all over again.
I'm not whole heartidly against the idea. Im terribly bored of WoW but i've made some friends here, which do keep me playing. Much like you guys did in Soma. But stopping playing soma was a hard decision even with the massive difference in gameplay and the multi / Duping / hacking bonanza. Unless theres a game availilbe thats another big step on, i will probably stay put.
I dont know, i'll come back when im a little more awake and theres some more input. The ramblings of a tired man dont really sway the decion one way or another....

I must admit I agree with both of you. (And as I'm feeling lazy, Im just going to respond in bullet points, if you will) I found myself logging in to WoW, on the odd occasion I did get some time to play and did.......well, nothing to be honest. To really progress in WoW I feel you have to invest a LOT of time into rep grind or raid preparation or whatever. No bad thing as, in my opinion, you have to be committed to progress but it was a massive time sink. That seems to be the nature of MMO's. I invested a lot of time in Soma, a lot in WoW and also a lot in Jumpgate prior to both of those, and tbh Ohforf seems to be the best character I have made. Do I want to lose all that hard work? WotLK is due soon(tm) and it is sparking my interest but is my character too underprepared? Equipment not good enough? Can I invest the time required to improve him and level him? I miss playing with the 'old' crew too but I also made friends in WTE and outside of that guild. Age of Conan looks very tempting but then so do many other games, I'm currently playing Jumpgate again and have got a 99% guaranteed closed beta spot for Jumpgate: Evolution - another time sink? I would love to start afresh with you guys somewhere but it would have to be a committed jump from all of us I think. And free too if possible It will be interesting to see what other replies we get here, I'd like to know other peoples view. Not the most concise post but then I've just got up and am feeling shitty

I think WoW will last for quite some time before it gets dated. I am taking a break from it at the moment and tbh I am really enjoying my PS3. It makes the mechanics of an online game very dull. Apart from u guys, i am not missing wow at all.

Some interesting thoughts here. For me, I think I will stay put in WOW. Like Knifey, I was somewhat traumatised by the demise of Soma, crappy though it may have been in comparison with WOW. Not against Conan in principle, I've probably read every story ever written, at least by Howard, the creator. Pretty dark stuff on occasion, I might add, for those who've not had the pleasure. Then there's the slightly dodgy films, of course... I'm having fun levelling my alts in WOW. Mrs Bar plays alongside me, and Gens and family, Phil and Cow, and a fair few others are on regularly now in Athanatus. It's not as it once was, but it's enough Oh, and good to see you, Oz

Think I may be ceasing my account over the summertime unless something interesting happens... Still vaguely keep in contact with the rebirth crew and they seem hot on requiem bloodymare www.playrequiem.com/ which I may well take a look at too...
