To my way of thinking, there are two types of guild hunts, those that are organised in advance, and impromptu on-the-spot ones.
On-the-spot ones can be organised anywhere, at any time, and by anyone. These can be great fun, as they are determined by the mood of the members wishing to take part at the time.
Those organised in advance are a more serious matter. I am not saying that they should not be fun, more that, depending on the nature of the hunt, they may need to be organised with near military precision. As such, they should be posted to this site well in advance, in order to give those that wish to attend fair warning, and so that the organisers know who they're waiting for. Failure to prepare properly for dangerous and diffficult hunts can result in a shambolic event. I think most of us have witnessed a few of these...
Generally speaking, pre-organised hunts will have a specific purpose. This may be going after particular weapon or armour drops, material or essence hunts and so forth.
Whilst I am on the subject, a word on essence hunts. It is very rare indeed for us to hunt essences for our members. It is a time consuming and, in the case of Akah for example, dangerous and expensive. Such a hunt, in my opinion, is a huge honour and privilege which must be earnt. I am lucky enough to have had that honour bestowed upon me. The likelihood of us agreeing such an undertaking for a new member is, quite frankly, remote. And for a friend of a new member...well, I'm afraid I find the idea ridiculous.
Still, these are only my thoughts, so feel free to hold forth on the subject.
